Excerpt from Jahyu aka Freedom
Kevin Willis, a homeless visual artist, navigates the highs and lows of life in the Tenderloin and SOMA Districts while facing the tide of gentrification. Kevin waits for his monthly check to arrive, visits his spot in Golden Gate Park, then muses on goals and dreams from an empty room of his SRO housing. Months later, without shelter or footing, Kevin navigates his city as a transient, frequenting men's shelters, food lines and places offering respite.
